Regulation 239
(1) A holder of small scale mining licences covering contiguous blocks may apply to the District Office of the Commission as set out in Form Eighty-Five of the First Schedule for merger of all or part of the licences, where the entire merged area does not exceed twelve small scale cadastral units, 10.2 hectares or 25.2 acres.
(2) The application for the merger shall be made not later than one hundred and fifty days before the expiration of the licences to be merged.
(3) The application shall include
(a) certified copies of the small scale mining licences to be merged;
(b) the number of small scale cadastral units and the cadastral co-ordinates delineating the proposed merged area; and
(c) evidence of payment of the applicable fees.
Procedure to Follow
Submit Your Application
Once you have filled and gathered all the required documents you will have to submit it at the district office.
It takes 5 days to review the application. The next 5 days is for notification of errors.
Submission To Mineral Titles Department (MTD)
10 days after registration, the district office shall submit the application to MTD.
MTD review the application in 10 days and records it in the priority register
MTD Publishes In The Gazette
15 days after recording, MTD publishes in the gazette, notify chiefs, traditional authorities etc. through the Commission's District Offices.
Application Dossier
Within ten (10) days after publication, District Office shall submit application dossier to MTD for appropriate recommendation to Minister
Minister Takes Decision
Once you have completed these steps you are ready to start your business.
You need to renew your license every three (3) years.
Approval / Rejected
21 days notification to applicant and Fees payable if approved.
Reasons are given if rejected.
Applicable Fees
Within 60 days, applicant pays applicable fees and gives notice of acceptance of the grant to Minister and Commission in writing.
License
Minister on proof of payment of applicable fees, issues licence to applicant within 30 days after the date of acceptance of the grant....
