Development and Classification of Film Act, 2016 (Act 935)

Section 19(1) & (2): (1) The Film Classification Committee shall preview and classify any feature film, documentary and advert that is intended for exhibition. 
(2) A right owner, licensee or assignee who desires to exhibit a film shall submit the film to the Film Classification Committee for examination and classification at least twenty-one days before the intended exhibition.

Requirements Fresh Application for work permit
  • Application letter from Applicant or organization engaging the applicant
  • CV/Educational Certificates
  • Marriage Certificate (in case applicant is married to a Ghanaian)
  • Letter of support from spouse (Ghanaian) if applicable
  • Company registration/objects of company that intends to employ the applicant
  • Certificate of commencement of business
  • If working for a Government Establishment, a letter of support from the appropriate establishment
  • Audited accounts of company
  • Tax clearance certificate
  • Letter of appointment
Renewal of work permit Companies
  • Current tax clearance certificate of the company
  • Audited account of the company
  • VAT registration certificate
  • GIPC certificate for companies owned by foreigner/Ghanaian Foreign Venture
 Professionals Professionals require a letter of support from their respective professional bodies: e.g. Doctors: clearance or registration from Dental and Medical Council. Nurses: clearance/registration from Nurses and Midwives Council. Time Frame Two (2) Weeks (After receipt of duly completed form) Please Note In cases where the application is referred to the Ghana Immigration Service for further investigation, the application will take three (3) months.
