Railways Act, 2008

Section 43: (1) A licence granted is for a period of five years in each instance and may be renewed under terms specified by the Authority. (2) A person who desires to renew the licence shall submit an application for the renewal to the Authority not later than six months before the licence expires. (3) The procedure for the renewal of the licence is the same as that for the grant of the original licence except that the fees for renewal shall be lower than that payable for an original licence. (4) An operator who fails to renew the licence or whose application for renewal is rejected by the Authority shall cease to operate the railway service.
