Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, 2016 Act 919

Section 13: (1) The Minister shall approve the operator before the execution of a petroleum agreement under section 10. (2) The Minister shall appoint an operator where the parties cannot agree on the choice of an operator. (3) An operator shall be a contractor, the Corporation, a body corporate owned by the Corporation or a body corporate owned by the contractor and the Corporation. (4) The Minister may approve a change of an operator upon the request of a contractor or the Corporation. (5) The Minister shall, in consultation with the Commission and the Corporation, change an operator in circumstances where that operator ceases to meet material requirements of this Act, other applicable enactments and a petroleum agreement.
