Pharmacy Act, 1994 (ACT 489)

Section 17: (1) Subject to subsection (2), where the Council is satisfied that an applicant is of good character and(a) holds a degree in pharmacy, or(b) holds a qualification equivalent to a degree that entitles the applicant to be registered as a pharmacist in the country where the qualification was obtained, it shall direct the registrar to enter the applicant's name in the register and to issue the applicant with a certificate of registration on the payment of the prescribed fee by the applicant. (2) A person shall not be registered under subsection (1) unless that person has taken and passed the Ghana pharmacy professional qualifying examination.

Procedure to Follow


Every Pharmacist licensed to practice Pharmacy in Ghana and is on the Permanent Register is required by law to be in good standing with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana in order to practice. This involves renewing their license to practice once every year in accordance with section 86 of Part IV of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act (Act 857).The requirements for renewal of a license is determined by the Board of Pharmacy Council and is subject to change by the Board.The current requirements are:
1. You must have obtained 10 CPD points in the previous year
