Regulation 1: The standard of quality of bananas intended for export shall Standard of be as follows:— quality of bananas.
The bananas—
(1) shall be of the Canary (Cavendish) or Gros Michel (Jamaica) variety or such other variety as the Chief Inspector of Produce may permit to be exported for the purposes of experiment
(2) shall not be immature or over-ripe, or be damaged, bruised or broken
(3) shall be free from disease in respect of the bananas and the free end of the stalk of the bunch, when exported on the bunch; and
(4)
(a) if on the bunch, the bunch shall contain not less than six hands or combs and the stalk or free end of the bunch shall be not less than six inches in length;
(b) if not on the bunch, shall be in complete hands or combs.
2. No bunch of bananas weighing less than 20 lb. shall be packed Restriction or shipped for export on weight.
3. (1) Every bunch of bananas intended for export on the bunch Packing of shall be packed in a wrapper, of such size as to cover adequately bananas, the whole bunch, of a material of sumcient strength, in the opinion of the Inspector, to protect and carry the bananas.
(2) All bananas intended for export other than on the bunch shall be packed in a container of a material of sumcient strength, in the opinion of the Inspector, to protect and carry the bananas.
4.(l) Any person who intends to export bananas shall give to Notice of the Inspector at the intended place of exportation written notice not intent to less than seven days before the date of exportation. The Inspector export. may if he thinks fit accept a shorter period of notice.
The notice shall state the date of the intended exportation, the number of bunches or packages in the consignment of bananas intended to be exported, and the store or other place in which the bananas are being kept until exportation
